When I started thinking about new episode ideas for my
podcast, the concept of self-talk came into consideration immediately. These
past few months have been a little bit challenging for me as I had to take a
step back and look inward and figure some of my own challenges and negative self-beliefs.
During the continuing conquest of self-discovery, I decided to take an
Emotional Intelligence class at University of the People. In this class, I had
to really question the belief system about myself and acknowledge the emotions that
have rooted in some of my decisions throughout my life. What really surprised me
is how negative I had been treating myself. I kept talking myself out of
different opportunities because of pure fear and allowing the negative thought
cycle to play a role while making decisions. I constantly imagined and played the
worst-case scenario in my head for a lot different things, which really
crippled me in making wiser decisions. As you’ll notice in the episode, I go
through different challenges, questions and what I’ve learned about myself, and
how I’m continuing to conquer them. Reason why this episode is important to me is
because were all stuck in a pandemic, seeing global injustices and facing the unknown,
it can daunting sometimes taking a leap of faith and trusting in yourself
especially during these hard times. So, I believe it’s important to shine light
to mental health, your self-talk, and allowing yourself to acknowledge that you’re
also a dope human being! I hope you enjoyed the episode and if you haven’t
listened to it, go listen to it now!
